At Spa Noor in Fall River, MA, we see clients of all shapes and sizes that are at the end of their rope when it comes to getting rid of unwanted fat. They eat reasonable portions of healthy foods, they exercise regularly, but they still have pockets of unwanted fat that just won’t budge. We strongly believe that everyone should feel confident and comfortable in their own skin, and so we recommend SculpSure. Read on to discover more about this revolutionary treatment.
How Many SculpSure Treatments are Needed?
The only way to determine how many SculpSure treatments you will need is to come in for an initial consultation. During this initial consultation, we will review your current body fat distributions, as well as your aesthetic goals, to give you a good idea of how many treatments you can expect to be necessary.
As a general rule of thumb, most clients need between one and three treatments per area they are removing fat from. Whether you want to focus on only your abdomen one day and thighs the next is up to you. We usually only treat one area per day unless smaller areas are being treated.
How Much Fat Is Removed Per Session?
On average, this treatment removes 24% of localized fat cells. So, if you have your abdomen treated one day, only 76% of the fat cells in your abdomen will be alive by the end of treatment. If you wanted a follow-up treatment, you would lose an additional 24% of the remaining 76% of living fat cells. Therefore, you will be left with 57.76% of the living fat cells you started with.
What Does This Much Fat Removal Look Like?
There’s an old saying, “every inch you can pinch is a pound of fat.” This is a fairly accurate description of how fat looks on the body. Unfortunately, you can’t spot-reduce fat. Therefore, an extra inch around your waist generally represents five pounds of excess fat. However, most people have to lose eight pounds before they lose an inch of belly fat.
This is because they also lose fat from other parts of their body. If you have 30 pounds of excess abdominal fat and you removed 24% of that fat with one treatment session, you would lose 7.2 pounds of fat with 22.8 pounds of abdominal fat remaining. Therefore, you can expect to lose around 1.44″ from your waist in a single session.
How Long Will It Take to See Results?
It can take several weeks to several months to see the final results of treatment. This is because SculpSure kills fat cells using heat energy and liquefies the dead cells. Then, these liquefied, dead fat cells have to travel through your lymphatic system until they can be processed by the deoxycholic acid in your gut and flushed out in your urine as waste.
This takes time. However, our clients love that fat removal isn’t immediate. To others, it looks like they are losing weight gradually, it’s just happening in their problem areas. You can also follow the “Rule of 5” to speed up the results of treatment. Massage the treated area for five minutes at a time, five times daily, for five days.
What Else Can I Do to Speed Up the Results of Treatment?
Walk! Walking is another thing you can do to speed along the results of treatment. Not only is walking great for your overall health, but it is particularly good for your circulatory system and lymphatic system.
If you go for a 30-minute walk on top of your regular diet and exercise routine, you can burn over 700 calories a week (1/5 of a pound of fat)! That’s right. Investing just 3.5 more hours in your health per week can result in you losing an additional pound of fat per month. The closer you get to your goal weight, the more dramatic the results will be.
What Areas Can I Remove Fat From?
This is tricky. On paper, this treatment can remove fat from just about anywhere. However, it is simultaneously important to have enough fat to treat, but not too much. As a good rule of thumb, if there is an inch of pinchable fat you can seek treatment in this area.
Men most commonly opt for this treatment to remove fat from beneath the chin, the backs of the knees, and from the underarms. Women most often use this treatment to remove excess fat from the flanks, abdomen, inner and outer thighs, back, buttocks and upper arms.
What to Expect Before Treatment
Because this treatment is non-invasive, there is not a lot of preparation required. The most important step is the initial consultation. During your initial consultation, we will review your medical history, assess your current health and body fat distribution, and discuss your goals. To be a good candidate for this treatment, you must have realistic expectations about the results.
Other than that, you just need to stop taking steroids, NSAIDs, and MAOIs in the 72 hours leading up to your treatment. We also strongly recommend that you drink between half a gallon and a gallon of water daily in the three days preceding your treatment. If you are dehydrated, it can take longer to see the results of your treatment.
What to Expect During Treatment
On average, it takes 25 minutes to treat a given area. Therefore, if you can spare two hours at a time, you may be able to treat four areas in one day. Depending on the volume of excess fat in a given area, you may come in to treat your lower back, upper arms, thighs and abdomen. However, you may only need to come in for a follow-up treatment on your abdomen and lower back.
You will experience neither pain nor discomfort during treatment. In fact, clients report that the treatment feels akin to a hot stone massage, simultaneously relaxing and invigorating. If you are concerned about feeling the warmth, or find yourself nervous about the treatment, ask us about using nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to ease your anxiety.
Am I a Good Candidate for This Treatment?
Again, you need to come in for an initial consultation to find out for sure if you are a good candidate for this treatment. Remember, you should have the right amount of fat in a given area for removal. In general, here is what we look for in the ideal candidate:
You Are Close to a Healthy Weight
A good candidate for this treatment is someone who has a BMI of no greater than 30. The ideal candidate is at their goal weight or within 10 pounds of their goal weight. This is because if you are too far from your goal, you may not be satisfied with the results of your treatment. Your satisfaction is one of our top priorities.
You Have Fairly Elastic Skin
One of the primary advantages to this treatment over other fat removal treatments or procedures is the fact that it uses heat to kill fat cells. The heat emitted encourages your body to produce stronger collagen, the protein responsible for keeping your skin tight and smooth.
Unfortunately, SculpSure is not primarily a skin tightening treatment. Therefore, if your skin is extremely lax, you will have to deal with loose skin after your body has flushed out the dead fat cells. To tell if you have suitably elastic skin, pinch it away from your body and see if it snaps back into place quickly. We will assess this during your physical examination to determine if it is elastic enough.
You Are Confident You Can Maintain Your Weight
The ideal candidate for this treatment is confident they can maintain their ideal weight. There’s nothing wrong with normal weight fluctuations, and many people gain and lose a few pounds here and there. However, if you’re continually gaining and losing the same 30 pounds or more, the elastin in your skin breaks down and your skin becomes lax.
Moreover, the results of the treatment are permanent. Adults cannot grow new fat cells. Therefore, when the fat cells are killed and flushed out of the body, you permanently have fewer fat cells in your body. However, if you begin to gain weight the remaining fat cells in your body will expand.
You Are Not Pregnant Or Nursing
It is absolutely crucial that someone who is considering this treatment is not pregnant or nursing. While the FDA has approved this treatment for safety and efficacy, it has not been tested on women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Because your health and wellness are of the utmost importance to us, we cannot recommend this treatment to pregnant or nursing women.
You Are Done Having Children
The vast majority of women gain weight during pregnancy. A significant portion of this weight gain is fat. Unfortunately, there is no way to know where your body will store excess fat. You may come in for your treatment and remove fat from your upper arms, before becoming pregnant.
If you get pregnant after treatment, you may gain fat in your upper arms. Because there are fewer fat cells in the area, your arms won’t look as large as they did before treatment, though you may need to come in for a maintenance treatment. Keep in mind, however, that there is no risk to you or your unborn child if you get pregnant after a SculpSure treatment has been completed.
You Don’t Have Time for Recovery
This treatment offers the same fat removal results as invasive fat removal procedures. However, there are several distinct differences between the two options. For instance, an invasive fat removal procedure leads to six months of swelling, so you won’t be able to see the body contouring results even though the fat is removed during the procedure.
More importantly, invasive body contouring procedures require an extensive recovery process. You have to quit smoking for six weeks after your procedure. You can’t take NSAIDs, MAOIs, garlic supplements, steroids, Ginkgo Biloba, fish oil, or vitamins E and K. You can’t lift more than five pounds for several weeks. If you’re looking for more convenience, then SculpSure is the solution for you.
