What to Do After Cosmetic Injections like Juvederm

Non-surgical treatments are becoming popular with time as more people seek fast and simple ways to solve various cosmetic problems. The most common non-surgical procedures involve injectable fillers such as Restylane®, Belotero® and Juvederm®, among others. Even though these are non-surgical procedures, there are still some things you can do that can positively or negatively affect the results of these procedures. So, what are some measures you can take after having injectable fillers?

Stay Hydrated

Drinking a lot of water is recommended for almost all cosmetic injections. You need to keep hydrated to improve your body’s ability to heal. Extra water may cause a bit of swelling, but it will improve the healing process. However, patients who have undergone lip injections are advised to avoid excessive contact with the lips.

Keep Your Head or Face Elevated

If you just had a facial injection, it’s important to keep your head elevated. This helps to prevent the injected fluid from collecting in certain areas. If your head remains elevated, you are less likely to experience swelling around the injection sites. Obviously, you won’t want to do a handstand following your injection treatment.

Avoid Hard-Pressing the Treated Part of the Body

Do not push on the skin because it might displace the injected liquid. Be gentle while applying any ice to avoid complications.

If you are planning to have Juvederm®, Restylane® or any other form of cosmetic injection, always make sure you follow the guidelines given to you by the provider.
